Sarasota County Terrace Building

For the cheapest of thrills (i.e., free): Walk into the historic, restored Terrace Building, ride the elevator to the top floor and gaze out of every window. You'll get incredible, birds-eye views of Sarasota -- without having to buy your own penthouse. Peek out the north windows for an up-close perspective on the Dwight Baum-designed courthouse tower.

The county-owned site is on the southeast corner of Ringling Boulevard and U.S. 301. Open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
