Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum

The only museum of its kind in the United States, emphasizing thematic groups of shells in their ecological habitats, including rare specimens, fossil shells and a main focus on shells from Southwest Florida. A slide show is given five times daily on the hour, beginning at 11 a.m. Located on Sanibel Island, the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum features a lab with a hands-on play area for children, displays, games and a tank with indigenous mollusks.
