Stimulus aid on drywall
Last Modified: Friday, February 5, 2010 at 5:13 p.m.
Here's an idea to help with the Chinese drywall disaster. If we use stimulus money to pay to rebuild affected homes, this is what we will accomplish: We will put carpenters, electricians, drywall installers, plumbers, painters, tile and carpet installers and others to work.
Many of these people are on unemployment. Let's get them off unemployment and give them a job. In turn we would need supplies, appliances, flooring materials, etc. Maybe we could put some retail salespeople back to work, manufacturers back on track and truckers back to work delivering these supplies. There are many details to work out, but to me this is the real meaning of the stimulus concept.
